Providence Health and Services
Mike Butler serves as president of operations and services for Providence Health & Services. He is responsible for all clinical and administrative operations and services across the five-state health system.
Butler has served Providence for 15 years, most recently as the system’s group president and prior to that, as the executive vice president and chief operating officer. He was also the chief financial officer. Butler has more than twenty five years of experience in health care financial and operations management with a successful track record in leading growth initiatives, implementing operational improvement efforts, improving credit ratings and consolidating administrative services. He currently serves as a board member for VHA Inc., a national network of not-for-profit health care organizations working together to improve performance and efficiency in clinical, financial and operational management.
Prior to joining Providence in 1998, Butler was the chief operating and financial officer of the Franciscan Health System in Tacoma, Washington and Catholic Health Initiatives in Englewood, Colorado. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from California State University, Fullerton and is a member of the Health Management Academy.
