Jim Rottsolk is best known as the co–founder, chairman, president and chief executive of Cray, Inc, a leading high performance computing company. As CEO of Tera Computer, Jim conceived the opportunity inherent in its acquisition of the much larger Cray Research, the company that dominated supercomputing in the 1980s and 1990s. Operating as Cray, Inc, the combined companies employed 900 people, including operations in two dozen countries. He was president and chief executive from the company's inception in 1987 through September 2001, and was reappointed to those positions in March 2002. Prior to 1987, Jim served as an executive officer with several high-technology companies. He received his bachelor's degree from St. Olaf College in Minnesota and his doctorate of jurisprudence from the University of Chicago.
