5th Annual Aneurysms Inside & Out: Cerebrovascular & Endovascular Residents and Fellows Course

The 5th Annual Cerebrovascular and Endovascular Residents and Fellows Course will cover the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of complex cerebrovascular disorders. The focus will be on the treatment of intracranial aneurysms and will cover both open and endovascular techniques. Didactic sessions will be supplemented with hands-on practical skills in the Seattle Science Foundation’s bioskills lab.  Residents will have the opportunity to use cutting-edge technology.  

Skull base approaches, aneurysm surgery techniques, and skills for cerebral bypass surgery will be taught with anatomical specimens and state of the art equipment including 3D microscopic dissection.

Topics include:

  • Angiographic Anatomy Review

  • Indications for Aneurysm Treatment

  • Simple and Advanced Aneurysm Coiling Techniques

  • Anatomy of Paraclinoid Carotid & Posterior Circulation

  • Intrasacular Flow Diversion & Novel Devices

  • Endovascular vs. Open Surgery

  • Techniques to Performing a Cerebral Bypass

  • Nuances in Aneurysm Clip Management

Hands On Cadaveric Lab:

  • Endovascular lab

  • Skull Based Approaches

  • Cerebral Bypass

  • Far Lateral Carniotomy for PICA & Vertebral Basilar Junction

The conversion of any fellowship to practice often can be challenging.  It is our hope that this course will provide a useful starting point for this important phase of training.

Location

The Seattle Science Foundation is located at 550 17th Avenue, James Tower, Suite 600 in Seattle, Washington. Parking is available in the garage on 16th Avenue between Cherry and Jefferson at a maximum fee of $16.50.  From I-5 (northbound and southbound), take the James Street exit.  Travel east on James Street.  James will become Cherry Street.  Turn right (south) on 16th Avenue.  Turn right into the main garage entrance.
